What is Collagen Biostimulator?
Products in this group aim to influence tissue response and skin structure, but their actions and limitations differ.
Each product has different expected effects and possible side effects. Our team explains the information for the product selected for you.
Goals of care
- Define the skin concern and goal
- Select a product by its actual indication
- Plan placement and amount according to anatomy
- Monitor response and adverse effects
PRODUCT OPTIONS
Collagen biostimulator options available at the clinic
Each product differs in composition, mechanism and use. Selection follows an assessment of skin quality, volume and individual goals.

Sculptra
An injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) product designed for gradual change through the body’s collagen response.
It may be considered for firmness, skin quality, structural support or selected volume goals.
Placement and the number of sessions are individualized.
- Its principal component is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which works through the body’s collagen response, so change develops gradually.
- Areas that may be assessed include the temples, midface and jawline for volume loss, laxity and structural support.
- It may suit goals involving firmness, elasticity, lines and age-related loss of support; it does not replace a volumizing filler in every case.
- The original product guidance includes Triple 5 massage—five times daily, five minutes each, for five days—when instructed by the clinician.

Radiesse
A product containing calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a gel carrier, providing initial tissue support with a later biostimulatory response.
It may be considered for contour, structure or skin-quality goals.
Dilution, tissue layer and technique are area-specific.
- Contains uniform calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres in a gel carrier, providing early support and a later response involving collagen, elastin and skin components.
- The product supports five dermal-network areas: collagen type I, collagen type III, elastin, proteoglycan and angiogenesis.
- The face, cheeks, folds around the mouth, neck and backs of the hands may be assessed; dilution and tissue plane vary by goal.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding, anaesthetic or ingredient allergy, raised-scar tendency, bleeding problems and active inflammation or infection must be disclosed.

Ultracol
A PDO-particle product considered for suitable skin-quality and firmness plans.
Change develops gradually with the tissue response and it does not replace a volumizing filler in every situation.
Formula, amount and placement follow an assessment.
- A PDO (polydioxanone) microsphere product developed from absorbable medical-suture material and designed to break down naturally.
- Ultracol 100 is described for skin quality, acne scars, pores and texture; Ultracol 200 is considered for firmness and selected volume support.
- Areas may include the under-eyes, forehead, nasolabial folds, jawline, neck and backs of the hands, with formula and plane selected for tissue thickness.
- After treatment, avoid squeezing, massaging, picking or scratching the area and follow specific advice on cooling, heat, exercise and other procedures.

PROFHILO
A hyaluronic-acid product focused on hydration, elasticity and overall skin quality rather than focal volumizing.
Its tissue-spreading characteristics require a product-specific placement pattern.
Dryness, thinness and laxity are assessed before planning.
- Contains 64 mg of hyaluronic acid per 2 ml, combining low- and high-molecular-weight HA with NAHYCO Hybrid Technology and no BDDE cross-linker.
- It is a bio-remodelling approach for skin structure and quality rather than a filler for focal volume.
- The product is associated with support for collagen types I, III and VII and elastin, addressing elasticity, firmness and texture.
- The legacy protocol describes five BAP points on each side of the face and ten neck points, generally over two sessions about one month apart, adjusted after assessment.

HArmonyCa
A hybrid injectable combining hyaluronic acid with CaHA microspheres.
HA provides initial support while CaHA is associated with a later collagen response.
Facial anatomy, tissue layer and the intended area determine suitability.
- A hybrid injectable combining hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) in one syringe.
- HA provides early support and hydration, while CaHA supports fibroblast activity and the later collagen response.
- It may be considered for less-defined jawline, laxity, firmness, elasticity and longer-term skin-quality goals.
- Temporary swelling, bruising or tenderness may occur; strenuous activity, heat and strong sun are avoided for the first 24 hours, with review for lumps or unusual symptoms.
This list shows available options; it does not mean every product suits every person or that they are used together.
